When should the bridesmaid dresses be bought?
I am getting married June 2011. When should my bridesmaids and i go shopping for their dresses so they will be in season and also the right style?

You should probably be looking now. You should at least look 4-5 months ahead of time especially if you want a specific style, color and designer. My wedding isn’t until July but i’ve already picked out the bridesmaids dresses. I did this because where I live the dresses styles change for the fall and winter time(they bring in ones with more or full sleeves, longer dresses thicker fabrics, etc). I wanted all possible options open and available. Styles on casual dresses like that never change so I know they wont be out of style. But either way I love them and so do the bridesmaids so that’s all that is important. The spring dresses wouldn’t come back in until about april and I knew if all 6 girls needed alteration we may be squeezing time. Plus I thought it gives the girls time to feel and look good in it. And if they are really nervous about it it will give them time to loose weight – if they want to!! When I was a bridesmaid I liked being able to have the dress really early on so that I could see how it looks on me and if I didn’t like it I had possible ways of change instead of getting the dress 2 weeks before the wedding and hating the way it looks on me but not being able to do anything about it.

What colour flowers go with cobalt blue bridesmaid dresses?
I’m getting married in June of 2011 and the bridesmaid dresses are going to be cobalt blue. I don’t know what colour flowers to have for the bouquets ect. I was thinking either white&yellow, or bright pink, or orange. Let me know what you guys think.

I was also told that using yellow, bright pink, and orange all together with some greenery would look really good with the cobalt blue dresses and then adding some white flowers in for my bouquet. What are your opinions on this idea?

I’m having dark blue dresses for my wedding and my bridesmaids are having various shades of orange in the bouquets. Going back to art class in elementary school, colors on the opposite sides of the wheel are complimentary to each other. Blue and orange fir this bill. There is absolutely no rule that says that you can’t have any color flower you want though. It is your wedding. Do what you think is pretty and that you like. If you are concerned with colors clashing, most bridal stores will allow you to order a swatch of the color and material that you can keep with your wedding planning supplies. You can take it with you to the florist or your site as you make decisions for comparisons sake. I think you are on the right track ans whatever you choose will be perfect.

That is an interesting question…I have never seen a black bridesmaid dress before. If you like to break traditions, you can try that. What do your bridesmaids think?
