Beach Wedding Dresses Don't Have To Be Plain Or Boring

Many couples are considering alternatives to the usual church wedding and for some, this means marrying on a beach. Beach weddings are intimate and highly romantic, but they also offer other wonderful perks which many people are a little surprised to discover.

One of the joys of a beach wedding is that everything gets to be scaled down to a more serene and unique level. With the beautiful scenery as background, you can spend more time working on the vows that you will be saying to each other. You can also spend more time choosing the wedding outfits, and for the bride that means finding her beach wedding dress! Whether you are marrying on distant shores or having a more casual affair at your local beach, choosing the perfect dress is every bit as important and deserves all the attention and consideration you can give it.

One of the best parts of a beach wedding is that no aspect need be expensive. As a matter of fact, when choosing your dress, the biggest question is probably what type of dress do you want to wear - do you go with a more traditional gown or something less formal?

Regardless of the type of dress you decide on, every bride wants it to be uniquely hers. It's the little details that will really make you fall in love with your wedding dress. Here are some creative ways you can incorporate to help make your dress your own:

- Tie a wide silk ribbon, chiffon sash or cummerbund around your waist. For a little added punch, use a color other than your dress color. For instance, if your dress is white, how about contrasting the waist band in ivory or champagne - you could even coordinate it with one of your wedding colors. This is a particularly good option for a second wedding when you don't want to wear a totally white dress.

- Try a dress of a different color other than white - like champagne, blush pink, baby blue, or even something vibrant like red!

- If an entire dress in red is too dramatic for you, but you like the idea, how about an accent of color around the neckline, hem or waist? This is really a great idea to play up the season of your wedding - red for winter holidays, maybe gold for fall, or turquoise for summer.

- A basic dress can be embellished with embroidery, possibly with a little pale color in the design. You could add some pearls, Swarovski crystals, sequins, colored rhinestones, or chiffon fabric flowers into the design.

- If you are adventurous, you could alter the hemline. A high-low design where the dress is knee length in front and floor length in back is a popular style for the flirty look of a tropical wedding dress. Out on the beach you might not want a full length dress, so perhaps you might consider shortening it to tea length for a more casual wedding dress feel.

You can truly be creative with your beach wedding dress and it can still be quite affordable. But, if you love the look of the basic little dress with only a smattering of flowers in your hair, then this should be what you wear.

Remember, your dress should be a reflection of who you are and it should also reflect the environment you are marrying in. A beach wedding embraces a love of nature and this should come through in your wedding dress.

There are no rules for a casual beach wedding dress, so feel free to express yourself and make your dress a special one, just for you.

Where can I find dyeable wedding dresses?
I’m helping my brother in-law’s fiancee plan her wedding. She would like to have a gown that fades to orange top to bottom (Ombre Style). It is a very tropical wedding.
Where can I find dye-able wedding dresses?

As long as its the right kind of fabric, any wedding dress can be dyed! Silks and satins can be dyed. I would take it to a pro (or someone who has done it before) to dye it to avoid any un-fixable disasters. Good luck!!

Can someone tell me if Demetrios wedding dresses are worthwhile?
    Hello,

As you know getting married in a tropical place is problematic.

I have been looking at Demetrio’s, Romance-style dresses, and I loved some of them. In the pictures the look simple, elegant and light.

I have tried several dresses before, but they are all heavy and stuffy. I need a light one that is well made, even when I would be ordering it on line, thus I can’t try it on first.

Do you have any comments about them? Have you bought one by phone or on-line?

Thank you kindly for your opinion.

    Vivian

Demetrios is a great designer, but if you are looking for other options for a ‘destination’-type gown, you could also look at Maggie Sottero’s Destination Collection, or Alfred Angelo’s Destination Collection. Those gowns also emphasize the need for lightweight material, without sacrificing quality or class. Congratulations and good luck!

Where can i get bright, more that 1 color, informal bridesmaid dresses that would look right 4 a tropical wedd?
My wedding is in july and it is going to be a tropical wedding. I need some bridesmaids dresses that are bright but more than one color. I don’t want them to be flashy or elegant. I prefer light blue dresses. I would love for there to be another color incorporated into it. light pink, orange(but not both pink and orange), or something like that would be wonderful. Even a flower print would be fine. but if it is a print, i don’t want it to be little prints, i want it to be big prints and i don’t want it to cover the whole dress. I once seen some bridesmaid dresses that were a light bright blue, almost aqua and that had a light pink rose underneath and in the center of the bosoms. they were beautiful. I do like simplicity. Like i said I want them to be INformal. Please help me!!!!!!!!

Actually, you might consider the orange and hot pink together, that is the hot combo this year for weddings! Very pretty!

Anyway, you should look at alternative sources for dresses. For example, I just did a wedding 6-30-07 and the bride got great dresses for the girls from the J. Crew catalog. They were bright green but they also came in pale blue. Also, large dept. stores such as Dillard’s, Macy’s, Foley’s, etc. have multiple sizes in dresses & sometimes multiple colors. Also, if they don’t have a particular size you need, they can call their other locations and check for you.

      Great theme!

I love the idea of a nice tropical orange color…BUT, a LOT of people don’t like to wear orange, as it’s a hard color to pull off. Run it by your bridesmaids and see how they feel about the color…

      A few color scheme ideas:

-Tropical blue dresses, with red and orange flowers.

-Purple dresses (dark or light) with red and orange flowers.

-A light hue of red for the dress, with orange detailing or an orange sash around the waist, flower color of choice ( I would go with orange and yellow)

-A light color of orange or just white, with some tropical flower detailing, flower color of choice

Basically, I think any bright, fun and carefree color will work for a tropical theme. Or, you can always go with a neutral color and add the tropical details with accesories like flowers and sashes!

      Good luck!
