Top Picks in Linen Dresses

by fashion expert

Don't think a linen dress has to fit the old stereotype! Plain colors and thick straps aren't the only way you can go when it comes to this classic style. In fact, form and fit are two factors that some of the latest designers have taken to the next level by developing some ultra chic new shapes. With so many options abound, it can be difficult to make just one choice! But, if you're on the hunt for the perfect linen dress to add to your wardrobe, we've gathered a fabulous selection of only our very favorite picks. Don't dive into this seriously cool trend without first looking into these truly memorable (and extra chic) options!

Talk about a hot linen dress done in a new way! Let's look to mk2k's 'Tan Linen Dress' for a style that's anything but bland. This sleeveless linen dress boasts a white bodice and tan-colored skirt, which cinches flatteringly at your natural waist. Plus, with pockets just at the hips and mid-thigh length, this dress is the perfect balance between cute and sexy. Add a little swing to your step and flirty-feel to your style with this fabulous new take on a linen dress. We love the tone-on-tone stitching, which balances out the two-toned nature of the dress. Its high back, high v-neck, and sleeveless cut balance out the mid-thigh length for a cute, chic take that doesn't try too hard, or come up short. Coming in at a full retail price of 9.00, you can nab this ultra trendy dress for as low as 0 if you hit the sales just right.

Moving to a completely different take on this classic frock, let's check out Hartford's 'Square-Beck Linen Dress.' This is the ultimate option for those of you on the hunt for a super comfortable, casual warm weather dress. This fashion-forward square neckline boasts wide straps and a high back. Landing just above the knee, Hartford's sweet take boasts a vertical cross-stitch pattern down the front center of the dress for a unique, yet subtle detail that adds a little oomph to this already sweet-shaped dress. And, we love the accent pockets (noticing the trend in this casual fashion?) for a cute, fun finish. Boasting a side-zip closure, this dress is as easy to throw on, as it is to run around in on even the hottest summer days. Available in pink and white, this chic frock rings in at 5.00 full price; but you can snag this sweet pick for as low as .00 if you time it just right.

Taking things to the sleeved category, and translating them over with a fun twist, the last hot pick we'll be checking out come from James Perse. His 'Drawstring Shirtdress' is one of the coolest (and comfiest!) we've seen. Boasting a fold-over collar, seven-button closure, and drawstring at the waist, this dress moves effortlessly, and keeps a chic edge to it, while its 100% linen construction keeps things light and feminine. With details like its shirttail hem, double-button closure, and banding at the cuffs, this long sleeve linen dress is absolutely one of the best when it comes to snagging one of the hottest cuts (a boyfriend's button-up shirt shape), with a traditional women's fabric (linen). Plus, its long-sleeved, semi-sheer nature makes it perfect for pairing with skinny jeans or leggings. Couple with your favorite pair of black flats, and you'll be set to go! Don't sell yourself short when it comes to doing linen right. You can swing this seriously cool look for a full price of 9.95, or (if timed well) as low as .50.

Just remember that when you're on the hunt for the perfect linen dress: pockets are in, boring is out, and funky necklines are never a bad way to go!

Why my linen dress does not become white even though I put in a chlorine solution?
I put a purple linen dress in a chlorine solution, because I have it already some years and I want to “transform” it a bit. I poured quite some chlorine. It is already 4 hours in the water and it has not changed color at all. Note that I have done this process with other clothes in the past, and it did have effect. How do I make this dress white?

    • heart o' gold says:

You may not have added enough bleach, the elements of the dye in the purple might not be vulnerable to bleach.

I used to play with bleach/dye a lot, and I found that darker colors almost never bleach all the way down to white. Very light colors I often could get to white or as near white as I needed to dye up with another color.

Also, bleach damages your fibers, makes them weaker. I’ve overbleached things and had them just fall apart in my hands later.

How do I clean a white linen dress?
I have a white linen dress that has not been worn for quite awhile and needs cleaning. There are no directions on the label and I would like to try to wash it and spot clean the collar, – but how?

    • rabcarr2308 says:

Take it to a laundry and they will have had experience at this sort of thing. Good luck getting it clean.

  4. Criss_Mousse says:

How to remove perspiration stains from silk/linen dress?
How can I remove stains caused by prespiration and maybe antiperspirant too from a dress that’s 70% silk and 30% linen? It is hand washable in cold water according to the label. Thanks!

  5. Steve C says:
